J Roderick Young Custom Homes is an owner-led custom home builder based in Happy Valley, Oregon, building on our clients' land across Clackamas County, the Portland area and SW Washington. We handle the whole job: help finding and checking land, design, permits, the build and a turnkey finish. The company began in 1991 as a finish contractor, so the woodwork, walls and exteriors get the care most builders hand off.

Yes. Building on our clients' own land is what we do. We walk the lot with you before design starts, and if you don't have land yet, we track lots and land in Oregon and Washington for clients as a no-cost service.

How long does a custom home take to build?
Design and permits come first, and their length depends on the lot and the city or county. Once we break ground, plan on construction taking at least six months. You get a schedule for your home with the estimate.
